Old Marker for an Old, and non-Existent "Blockhouse" Fort on the Pequannock River

Picture taken August 24th, 2012 while walking from Pompton Lakes to Riverdale. An excellent example of how history gets lost. the marker is marking a location that is no longer existing because, at least at some point, it seemed pertinent to mark it out. Today however, the marker itself is falling into a sorry state itself and is unlikely to be repaired. Probably little if any memory that there was ever a fort at that location whatsoever, no indication of how this location would've protected from any given assault, particularly from the French.
