A previous war memorial was placed in Pompton Lakes, NJ on 1914 before the US entry into WWI, after WWI, those returning would also build their own memorials. Here we see a rifled cannon mounted on concrete. I am unsure what type of cannon that it is, but its not a typical movable field piece. My intuition tells me that this came off of a decommisioned ship or was part of a coastal battery of some sort.
The cannon can be found at Ramapo Road in Pompton Lakes, NJ near the entrance to Hershfield Park.
